Urine Culture

Urine culture is performed to identify the pathogen causing a urinary tract infection.
There is a significant amount of microflora in the urinary tract, external genitalia, and skin that can contaminate the urine sample collected for culture, leading to unreliable test results. Therefore, it is crucial to collect the sample correctly. Additionally, microbiological tests determine the microbes' sensitivity to antibiotics, which is performed through an antibiogram to show which antibiotic is most suitable for the patient being tested.
