Microbiota tests
Gut microbiota tests analyze the composition and ratio of microorganisms found in a stool sample. At REZUS, commercial microbiota tests can be conducted, with reports potentially describing the diversity of microorganisms, their relative quantities, and providing personalized recommendations.
What can and cannot be revealed from such a test result?
The gut microbiome is highly diverse and changes due to diet, medication, age, environment, and many other factors. Currently, there is no universally accepted 'ideal' microbiome profile that could reliably diagnose most diseases. Different laboratories may also use varying analysis and result interpretation methods.
Therefore, a commercial microbiota test should not be considered a standalone diagnosis for digestive, immunological, or metabolic diseases. Pronounced or prolonged symptoms should first be assessed using conventional diagnostic methods.
If you are conducting the test out of curiosity or to better understand your microbiota profile, the report should be viewed as supplementary information. Significant dietary restrictions, antibiotic, probiotic, or supplement use should not be initiated based solely on the microbiota report without considering the overall health situation.
