The consultation with a vascular surgeon is aimed at evaluating arterial and venous diseases. Common reasons for consultation are varicose veins in the legs, swelling, a feeling of heaviness or pain in the legs, skin changes, poorly healing wounds, or symptoms that may be related to impaired arterial circulation.
The doctor assesses the symptoms, the risk factors for vascular diseases, and the condition of the limbs. If necessary, an ultrasound examination of the blood vessels may be performed, which helps to evaluate blood flow and the structure of the veins or arteries.
Consultation before the procedure
In addition to consultations with vascular surgeons, REZUS also performs some vein treatment procedures, such as sclerotherapy. The appropriate treatment method depends on the vascular changes, symptoms, and ultrasound evaluation, so the procedure should not be chosen based solely on the external appearance of the veins.
Sudden swelling and pain in one leg, especially if accompanied by shortness of breath or chest pain, may be signs of an emergency condition. In such cases, one should not wait for a scheduled consultation with a vascular surgeon.
