Food Intolerance Tests

Blood take service 5.00€

If you experience recurring bloating, pain, diarrhea, or other digestive symptoms after consuming certain foods, it is worth choosing a test based on the suspected cause. Food allergy and food intolerance are not the same: allergic reactions involve the immune system, while intolerance may be due to, for example, impaired breakdown of certain substances.

What are the differences between the offered tests?

At REZUS, it is possible to perform a genetic test for the variant associated with primary adult lactose intolerance and broader food product panels. The genetic lactose test answers a specific question about the genetic variant associated with adult-type lactose intolerance. Broader panels assess reactions to many different products, so their purpose and significance of results are different.

If the panel measures food-specific IgG antibodies, it is important to know the limitations of this method. International allergy organizations do not recommend IgG tests as an independent method for diagnosing food allergies or food intolerance. An increased IgG level may reflect contact with food, but it does not in itself prove that the specific product causes symptoms.

When is a more extensive examination necessary?

If symptoms are severe, persist for a long time, recur regardless of specific food, weight loss occurs, or there is a need to severely restrict diet, a food panel alone is not enough. In such cases, it is important to look for other possible causes. A strict elimination diet should also not be started based solely on the IgG result without evaluating symptoms and overall diet.
