Autoimmune Marker Tests

Blood take service 5.00€

Autoimmune marker tests look for antibodies or genetic markers that may be associated with certain autoimmune diseases. Possible tests include ANA, ANCA, anti-dsDNA, anticardiolipin, and antimitochondrial antibodies, antiphospholipid syndrome tests, HLA-B27, and other markers.

There is no single 'autoimmunity test'

Different autoimmune diseases are associated with different laboratory markers. For example, ANA is often used as one of the initial tests when systemic connective tissue diseases are suspected, but a positive ANA can also be found in individuals who do not have an autoimmune disease. ANCA, anti-dsDNA, or other more specific tests are chosen based on symptoms and the suspected diagnosis.

HLA-B27 is a genetic marker associated with a higher probability of certain inflammatory rheumatic diseases, but its presence alone does not confirm a disease.

A broad set of autoantibodies without a clear medical reason can yield random positive results, which are difficult to interpret. If symptoms suggest an autoimmune disease, it is more appropriate to select tests together with a doctor and to assess the results in conjunction with symptoms and other tests.
