ENG | Erythrocyte sedimentation rate

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ENG) is the sedimentation of erythrocytes to the bottom in one hour. Average ENG increase up to 100 mm/h: acute and chronic infections, rheumatic diseases, myocardial infarction, nephrotic syndrome. Marked increase in ENG >100 mm/h: myeloma disease, leukemia, marked anemia, strong inflammatory – bacterial and viral processes. ENG decreases: during dehydration, in congenital and acquired heart defects, with corticosteroid therapy.
