Calculation of fibrinogen

This indicator is used to determine congenital afibrinogenemia (hypofibrinogenemia, dysfibrinogenemia) when DIK syndrome is suspected.

Fibrinogen is synthesized by the liver. An increase in fibrinogen in the blood (during serial tests of the same individual) is a risk factor for the pathology of the cardiovascular system (even if these changes do not go beyond the norm). Fibrinogen is a physiological substance that has many effects on the ENG index. Determination of fibrinogen activity cannot diagnose thrombosis, but it can preliminarily decide whether other coagulation tests are needed. The risk of thromboembolic complications cannot be ruled out in the presence of a normal fibrinogen concentration.
