Troponin T (TnT) determination

What is it?
It is a specific marker of heart muscle damage. Troponin T is released into the blood when heart cells are damaged, usually due to myocardial infarction or other acute cardiac conditions.

How is it performed?
The test is performed from venous blood. Results are often interpreted serially (at several-hour intervals) when acute coronary syndrome is suspected.

When is it recommended?

• Suspected myocardial infarction (chest pain, shortness of breath);
• After heart surgeries or procedures;
• Assessing heart condition during chronic diseases (e.g., chronic kidney failure).
