PSA | Prostate Specific Antigen - the main areas where PSA testing is used are monitoring the disease progression and treatment effectiveness in patients with prostate carcinoma or undergoing hormonal treatment. Since PSA is also found in the urethral and anal glands, as well as in breast tissues or in cases of breast cancer, low concentrations of PSA can also be detected in women's serum. PSA can still be detected even after radical prostatectomy.

Recommendations:

• It is recommended to perform it prophylactically once a year (especially from the age of 40) for disease diagnosis and treatment control, periodically according to doctor's instructions.
• The accuracy of the test response is influenced by age, medications taken, physical activity, and smoking.
• For test sampling, it is necessary to arrive fasting for at least 2 hours, avoid physical exertion (sports) and sexual activity for 2 days before the test.
