PSA | Prostate Specific Antigen - the main areas where the PSA test is used are the monitoring of disease progression and treatment effectiveness in patients with prostate carcinoma or those receiving hormonal therapy. Since PSA is also found in the urethra and anal glands, as well as in breast tissues or in the presence of breast cancer, low PSA concentrations can also be detected in women's serum. PSA can still be detected even after radical prostatectomy.

Recommendations:

• It is recommended to perform prophylactically once a year (especially from the age of 40) for disease diagnosis and treatment control, periodically according to the doctor's instructions.
• The accuracy of the test response is influenced by age, medications, physical activity, smoking.
• For the test sampling, it is required to arrive fasting for at least 2 hours, avoid physical exertion (sports) and sexual activity for 2 days before the test.
