Aluminum

Aluminum is considered one of the pathogenetic factors of Alzheimer's disease. Aluminum testing may be important in patients undergoing dialysis. During renal dialysis, increased aluminum levels can cause encephalopathy and bone osteomalacia. An excess of aluminum inhibits the synthesis and release of parathyroid hormone. Elimination of aluminum toxicity often regulates parathyroid hormone synthesis and secretion and restores normal bone formation.
