Indirect bilirubin

Indirect bilirubin – insoluble in water, neurotoxic, and forms soluble reversible complexes with albumin. Indirect (unconjugated) bilirubin increases in cases of hemolysis, neonatal jaundice, and vitamin B12 and folic acid deficiency anemia.

• It is recommended to perform preventively once a year; for the diagnosis and control of diseases, it is performed periodically according to the doctor's instructions.
• The results of the test are influenced by the medications used, and diet (including dietary supplements).
• For the test, it is necessary to arrive fasting for 12 hours.
