Yersiniosis is an infectious disease caused by the Yersinia enterocolitica bacterium. Infection occurs by consuming contaminated vegetables, meat products, as the carriers of the bacteria can be dogs, cats, pigs, cattle, and especially rodents (mice, rats). The bacteria multiply at temperatures between 2-25°C. Main clinical signs include stomach and intestinal pain, fever can rise to 38-39°C and above, pain in the lower right abdomen (often suspected appendicitis, in women - inflammation of the right ovary), frequent (in the form of mush) defecation, rash manifested by red, itchy pimples that appear only on the extremities and trunk area, increased sweating, and weakness.
IgA antibodies are detected in acute infections.
