Tick Examination for Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Encephalitis Virus (PCR Method)

What is it?
This is a combined molecular test that allows simultaneous examination of a tick for two of the most commonly transmitted diseases – Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi) and tick-borne encephalitis.

How is it done?
The removed tick needs to be brought to the laboratory. The test is performed using the PCR method – identifying bacterial and viral genetic materials.

When is it recommended?

• After any tick bite situation;
• If a person is unsure if they are vaccinated against encephalitis;
• To immediately get a comprehensive response for two dangerous diseases.
