ROMA scale: postmenopause

What is it? 
ROMA (Risk of Ovarian Malignancy Algorithm) is an algorithm that helps assess the risk of ovarian cancer based on two biological markers—HE4 and CA-125, and the woman's menopausal status. This variant is applied to postmenopausal women. 

When is it recommended? 

• Detected ovarian formation in ultrasound; 
• Monitoring an existing ovarian disease or aiming to detect an oncological process early; 
• Planning surgical treatment.

The ROMA scale helps the doctor determine if a woman needs specialized oncological care. This is particularly important in assessing the risk of a malignant process at early stages. 

Important: 

ROMA is not a diagnostic test but a risk assessment tool. If the risk is increased, further tests (e.g., CT, MRI, or laparoscopy) are recommended.
