ROMA scale: postmenopause

What is this? 
ROMA (Risk of Ovarian Malignancy Algorithm) is an algorithm that helps assess the risk of ovarian cancer based on two biological markers – HE4 and CA-125, and the menopausal status of the woman. This version is applied to postmenopausal women. 

When is it recommended? 

• Detected ovarian mass during ultrasound; 
• Monitoring existing ovarian disease or aiming to detect an oncological process early; 
• Planning surgical treatment. 

Patient benefit: 

The ROMA scale helps the doctor determine whether a woman needs specialized oncological care. This is particularly important for assessing the risk of malignant processes at early stages. 

Important: 

ROMA is not a diagnostic test but a risk assessment tool. If the risk is increased, further tests are recommended (e.g., CT, MRI, or laparoscopy).
