Renin Measurement at Rest

Renin is an enzyme produced in the kidneys that regulates arterial blood pressure. By promoting vascular constriction, renin increases systolic and diastolic arterial blood pressure. This test is important if there is a detected decrease in potassium levels and increased blood pressure or renovascular hypertension.

Prior to sample collection, the patient should remain at rest (not moving) for at least 30 minutes.
