High Sensitivity CRP

High Sensitivity C-reactive Protein (hsCRP) is a highly sensitive inflammation marker that allows the assessment of even minimal systemic inflammatory processes in the body. The test is particularly valuable in assessing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, as even a slightly elevated hsCRP level may be associated with an increased likelihood of myocardial infarction, stroke, or peripheral vascular diseases.

High Sensitivity CRP concentration is often used as an additional indicator for assessing atherosclerosis risk, especially in patients whose other lipid indicators are within normal ranges, but a higher cardiovascular risk is suspected. Unlike the standard CRP test, this method allows the detection of very low protein levels, making it suitable for early heart disease risk assessment.

Test Principle: hsCRP is determined by immunoturbidimetric or immunochemical method from venous blood. Results are presented in mg/l units. The higher the hsCRP concentration, the greater the risk of cardiovascular events.

• Useful in cases of moderate lipid elevation or when early heart disease cases are identified in the family.
• The test is prescribed prophylactically for adults as an additional risk factor assessment.
• Performed to monitor the presence of inflammatory processes in the body, even if there are no clear clinical symptoms.
• Acute infections, injuries, chronic diseases may influence test results.
• It is recommended to come for the test fasting, but it is not mandatory - it is important that the patient is in a healthy general condition during the test.
