HBcorAg | Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) degradation product of the viral core antigen

Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) degradation product of the viral core antigen (HBcorAg) – HBeAg usually appears during the acute phase of infection, shortly after the appearance of HBsAg. It persists (not always) in cases of active chronic infection. It is a marker of active hepatitis B virus replication and particularly high infectivity. Often associated with liver damage and a high risk of liver cell cancer.
