Blood culture by automated method (for aerobes and anaerobes)

What is it? 

It is a microbiological test carried out to detect bacteria in the blood. The automated method allows for faster and more accurate identification of infection agents. 

When is it recommended? 

• In case of fever of unknown origin; 
• Suspecting sepsis, bacteremia, endocarditis; 
• Before starting or during antibiotic treatment (especially for hospitalized patients). 

Benefit: 

Helps identify the exact infection agent and its sensitivity to antibiotics. Allows for effective treatment selection and avoidance of complications. 

Important: 

Antibiotics should not be used before the test (if possible), and samples are taken under strictly sterile conditions.
