Atopobium vaginae (PGR)

Atopobium vaginae is a bacterium naturally found in the vaginal microflora. These bacteria belong to the Atopobiaceae family and are known for their role in balancing the vaginal flora and their potential impact on reproductive health disorders. A. vaginae is often detected in patients with bacterial vaginosis. This is a vaginal dysbiosis characterized by an imbalance of the vaginal flora, with symptoms that may include an unpleasant odor, white or gray discharge, itching, and burning. Atopobium vaginae is not often associated with male genital infections, but men can be carriers of the bacteria and potential spreaders of infections.
