For adults, the following are tested: Antibodies against tissue transglutaminase Anti-tTG IgA and IgG.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune, hereditary digestive tract disorder where the body cannot tolerate certain proteins found in grains, collectively called gluten. Many people have celiac disease without knowing it, which poses a risk of serious complications.

Symptoms of celiac disease:

• weight loss, excessive thinness;
• diarrhea or constipation;
• cramping, aching abdominal pain, bloating;
• joint pain;
• blister-like rashes on the skin and mucous membranes;
• persistent fatigue;
• iron deficiency anemia.

Symptoms of celiac disease become apparent when consuming foods made from wheat, rye, and barley. Celiac disease can damage not only the small intestine but also other organs. Possible autoimmune damage to the intestines, skin, liver, joints, uterus, heart, and other organs.

Celiac disease diagnosis is ultimately confirmed or ruled out by diagnostic tests for celiac disease:

• serological blood tests (antibodies against tissue transglutaminase (Anti-tTG), anti-gliadin antibodies;
• by performing an intestinal biopsy.
