Aldosterone Determination in Motion

What is it? 

Aldosterone is an adrenal hormone that regulates the metabolism of salts (sodium and potassium) and blood pressure. It is important for fluid balance in the body. 

When is it recommended? 

• Suspected primary or secondary hyperaldosteronism (e.g., high blood pressure, hypokalemia); 
• In case of low blood pressure with salt imbalance; 
• Assessing adrenal function or renin-angiotensin-Aldosterone system disorders. 

Benefit: 

Helps identify specific causes of hypertension, adjust treatment, and avoid complications. Can be used together with a renin test. 

Important: 

Special preparation may be required before the test (discontinuation of certain medications, regulation of salt intake). The test is sensitive to body position and time.
