Microscopic Examination of Skin to Detect Fungi (Palm Skin)

What is it? 

This is a microscopic examination to look for signs of fungal infection on the palm skin. Scrapings from areas of redness or flaking are examined. 

When is it recommended? 

• In case of itching, redness, flaking; 
• Suspected skin mycosis or contact dermatitis; 
• When usual treatment methods are ineffective. 

Benefits: 

Helps quickly identify or rule out a fungal infection and prescribe appropriate antifungal treatment. 

How is it performed? 

Skin scrapings are taken with a special tool from the affected area and examined under a microscope.
