Description

Luteinizing hormone (LH) – the determination of its concentration is used to elucidate disorders of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function. LH stimulates ovulation and promotes the synthesis of estradiol (and other estrogens) and progesterone in ovarian cells. In men, LH activates testosterone synthesis. Testosterone, in turn, inhibits LH secretion.
