Bismuth

Bismuth is a metal used in the production of medicines. Bismuth is most often found in various salts. Bismuth salts are used to treat colon inflammation (colitis), constipation, to stop diarrhea, in cases of digestive disorders, to treat H. Pylori infection, stomach ulcers, and hemorrhoids. Bismuth salts help eliminate bacteria, improve blood clotting, and reduce stomach acid levels. Prolonged use of bismuth preparations may lead to kidney failure. The use of bismuth preparations is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
