Anti-GAD (antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase)

Anti-GAD (antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase) – this test is used for the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. The Anti-GAD test is performed when it is necessary to differentiate between type I and type II diabetes, when gestational diabetes is detected in pregnant women, and when the risk of congenital diabetes manifestation needs to be assessed. Anti-GAD increases: Type I diabetes. Anti-GAD decrease has no clinical value. If anti-GAD is within normal range (after diagnosing diabetes symptoms): Type II diabetes, gestational diabetes in pregnant women.
