Pneumococcal Vaccines

Pneumococcal infections can cause pneumonia, meningitis, sepsis, and other diseases. Vaccination reduces the risk of severe pneumococcal infections, and the need for vaccination depends on a person's age, health condition, and previous pneumococcal vaccines.

Who are the vaccines especially important for?

Pneumococcal vaccination is more often recommended for older individuals and those with certain chronic diseases or conditions that increase the risk of severe infection. Vaccination for children and adults is carried out according to different recommendations, so age alone is not the only criterion.

At REZUS, pneumococcal vaccines can be chosen, but the specific vaccination schedule depends on the selected vaccine and whether the person has been previously vaccinated against pneumococcus. If the history of previous vaccinations is unclear, it is worth verifying it with available records when registering.

The vaccine is intended for disease prevention and not for treating an already occurring pneumococcal infection. If you are currently experiencing a fever or have an acute illness, inform the healthcare professional administering the vaccination.
