Prevenar 20 [Apexxnar] (0.5 ml) Pneumococcal Vaccine

Prevenar 20 (Apexxnar) is a pneumococcal vaccine intended for:

• Children aged over 6 weeks and under 18 years, to help protect against certain diseases such as meningitis (inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord), sepsis or bacteremia (presence of bacteria in the blood), pneumonia (lung infection), and ear infections (acute otitis media) caused by 20 types of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.

• Adults aged 18 years and older, to help protect against certain diseases such as pneumonia, sepsis or bacteremia, and meningitis caused by 20 types of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.

Prevenar 20 provides protection against 20 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae. The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies that help protect you or your child from these infections.

Note: Prevenar 20 only protects against ear infections caused by the specific Streptococcus pneumoniae types included in the vaccine. It does not protect against ear infections caused by other pathogens.

Prevenar 20 Dosage Schedule:

• From 6 weeks to 12 months of age – 3 doses at appropriate intervals
• From 12 to 24 months of age – 2 doses
• From 2 to 18 years of age – 1 dose
• Adults (18 years and older) – 1 dose
