Plasma Glucose Concentration Determination

Glucose in plasma (GLU) – one of the main parameters for diagnosing diabetes. An increase in glucose concentration in the blood is hyperglycemia, a decrease – hypoglycemia. Glucose increases in cases of diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, impaired fasting glucose, Cushing's syndrome, pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer. Glucose is increased by: stress, caffeine, antidepressants, diuretics. Glucose decreases with insulin overdose, insulinoma, hormonal pituitary and adrenal insufficiency, alcohol consumption.
