Microscopic Hair Examination for Fungi Detection (Hair)

What is it? 

It is a microscopic examination of head or body hair to detect fungal infections. The examination allows assessment of whether the hair is damaged by fungi and helps to identify the specific form of dermatophytosis. 

When is it recommended? 

• In cases of hair loss, especially in children; 

• When flaky, red, itchy spots are observed on the scalp; 

• Suspected scalp fungus (tinea capitis).
