Aldosterone measurement in motion

What is it? 

Aldosterone – an adrenal hormone, regulates the metabolism of salts (sodium and potassium) and blood pressure. It is important for fluid balance in the body. 

When is it recommended? 

• Suspecting primary or secondary hyperaldosteronism (e.g., with high blood pressure, hypokalemia); 
• Low blood pressure with salt imbalance; 
• Assessing adrenal function or renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system disorders. 

Benefits: 

Helps to identify specific causes of hypertension, adjust treatment and avoid complications. It can be applied together with a renin test. 

Important: 

Special preparation may be required before the test (discontinuing certain medications, regulating salt intake). The test is sensitive to body position and time.
