Alkaline Phosphatase Isoenzymes

Alkaline Phosphatase Isoenzymes - Electrophoresis has proven that there are at least 11 alkaline phosphatase isoenzymes. However, these research methods are technically inconvenient and are rarely used in clinical practice. In the blood of healthy individuals, the liver alkaline phosphatase fraction predominates, but a significant increase indicates active liver disease. Rapid increase of the liver fraction and liver fraction may indicate bile duct obstruction. A decrease in the liver fraction and an increase in the bone fraction may indicate osteoporosis and increased osteoclast activity.
