November – Men's Health Month

The Rezus.lt laboratory is introducing a new tradition – organizing new campaigns every month, aiming to encourage both women and men to take better care of their health. Special efforts will be made to persuade men to undergo preventive examinations, as this is often a „mission impossible“. Together, women are invited to join this mission by encouraging their husbands, fathers, brothers, and friends to find some time for tests and have peace of mind for the coming years.

According to health care specialists, the shorter life expectancy of men and their greater susceptibility to certain illnesses largely depend not only on biological reasons but also on men's own attitudes towards their health.

According to the World Health Organization, men's health is most frequently threatened by heart, lung, and prostate diseases, as well as depression and diabetes. For heart disease prevention, it is essential to periodically check cholesterol levels in the blood and blood pressure, which is particularly important for men under 45 years of age.

Many men mistakenly believe that their success in professional, personal, or social life reflects good health. For this reason, men tend to push their well-being to the last place and only become concerned when it becomes unbearable.

According to a urologist, men often mistakenly think that erectile dysfunction is a natural consequence of aging, so they give in and accept it. However, erectile dysfunction is a cry for help from the body. Erection can deteriorate due to obesity, smoking, poorly controlled diabetes, high blood pressure, and other diseases. Many men show signs of serious heart disease within the first few years of experiencing erectile dysfunction, and some even suffer their first heart attack.

November is Men's Health Month, urging men to take care of their health and especially pay attention to prostate cancer, which claims new victims every year. Men with prostate cancer often do not experience any symptoms for a long time, so the cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage. The good news is that prostate cancer can be cured in as many as 90% of cases, especially if the disease is diagnosed early.
