For Accurate Diagnosis at Rezus.lt Clinic - Modern Ultrasound Examinations
Ultrasound examinations are instrumental tests that provide medical information, or in other words, images about a person's health status using ultrasound waves. Ultrasound examination or echography is a harmless and extremely useful procedure. Rezus.lt clinic offers the latest ultrasound equipment and precise procedures with its help. We discuss this with the clinic's sonographer, Darius Dicevičius.
The Clinic Boasts New Modern Equipment
Ultrasound examinations are conducted by prepared medical specialists. These tests are useful in almost all medical fields - examining abdominal organs, thyroid, kidneys, heart, breasts, blood vessels, eyes, skin, and so on.
“The accuracy of an ultrasound examination (echography) depends on the sonographer's competence in that area. Therefore, in complex examinations, medics specialize and deepen their knowledge. Moreover, even the best specialist requires modern and reliable equipment,” says D. Dicevičius, who has many years of experience.
Rezus.lt clinic offers exceptionally high-quality services to patients. The healthcare facility has acquired a PREMIUM class ultrasound device based on the latest technologies, which has all the necessary accessories and sensors to ensure precise images.
“It's gratifying that current ultrasound technologies allow us to evaluate not only the image of an organ, tissue, or formation but also the organ's movement, softness, blood flow, speed, and similar aspects,” says the sonographer.
Ultrasound multiparametric tests are especially useful in diagnosing various conditions. This procedure involves more tests than a regular echography. The examination allows for more accurate conclusions.
“One example is that in the case of liver steatosis, we can evaluate the image, measure the liver's stiffness, which will indicate the progression of fibrosis-cirrhosis, or whether it is dangerous. It will assess circulation disorders. All this allows selecting the disease monitoring and treatment tactics,” explains D. Dicevičius.
Before the advent of ultrasound multiparametric tests, patients had to undergo more painful and side-effect-laden invasive tests – biopsies. Therefore, the emergence of new technologies has brought many benefits.
Contrast Ultrasound Examinations – A Novelty for Rezus.lt Patients
Popular worldwide, but still finding their way into medical institutions in Lithuania, contrast ultrasound examinations are a breakthrough in medicine. During the examination known as CEUS (contrast-enhanced ultrasound), by injecting a contrast agent into a vein or cavity, it is possible to see what is not visible in regular tests – even small blood vessels or capillaries.
“This is the newest and fastest-growing direction of ultrasound in the world, which has essentially eliminated the biggest disadvantage of ultrasound compared to MRI examinations,” explains D. Dicevičius.
The CEUS examination allows medics to more accurately assess various conditions – cysts, blood vessels, liver, and kidney cysts. Before the examination, the contrast agent is injected into a vein, it is harmless and soon exits the body. Therefore, it is suitable for examining patients with kidney and liver failure. Traditional tests – CT or radiological – were not recommended for such patients, so contrast ultrasound helped solve this problem.
The Benefits of Ultrasound in Interventions and Treating Lung Diseases
The use of harmless ultrasound for humans is vast. Experienced medics employ echography even for minimal interventions. Specifically, ultrasound performed during procedures allows for much more precise needle or other instrument placement and helps avoid complications or undesirable deviations. A medic, performing the intervention, follows the image sent by the ultrasound scanner and sees where and how the needle travels throughout the procedure. This is particularly useful when puncturing thyroid, breast nodules, lymph nodes, joints, or tendons or performing much more complex examinations when tissue samples need to be taken from the liver, kidneys, or other organs.
Ultrasound examinations are also useful when wanting to see the state of the lungs and chest without X-ray assistance. This became particularly popular during the pandemic period.
“Many severe Covid-19 patients were connected to devices and not all could be transported and undergo regular X-rays or other tests. Auscultation does not always provide sufficient information about what is happening in the lungs. Therefore, ultrasound precisely helped to monitor the patients' condition and treat them accordingly,” says D. Dicevičius.
Experienced and constantly deepening their knowledge not only in Lithuania but also abroad, Rezus.lt doctors will advise, based on your complaints or your doctor's opinion, which ultrasound examinations are possible and necessary for you, and what adequate preparation is required for the examination.
