Candida 7-causative agents panel by PCR method (Candida: albicans, krusei, glabrata, dubliniensis, parapsilosis, tropicalis, lusitaniae)

Candida spp. – a group of fungi naturally present in the human body’s microflora, most commonly in the mouth, intestines, vagina, and skin. Typically, they do not cause problems, but under certain conditions (e.g., immunodeficiency, antibiotic use), they can cause infections (candidiasis). Typical symptoms of candidiasis in women include itching, vaginal pain, pain during intercourse, external dysuria, and abnormal vaginal discharge. In men, symptoms include redness and itching of the glans penis, white discharge under the foreskin, bad odor, and pain during intercourse. If untreated, the inflammations recur, may lead to secondary bacterial infections, cause urinary tract infections, and reproductive system complications.

Candida PCR panel – a molecular test designed to detect and identify species of the Candida genus fungi. The test can be useful in the presence of fungal infection signs, unclear or recurring symptoms, and in cases where it is important to more accurately evaluate the possible causative agent of the infection.

Differentiation of Candida species is clinically significant, as different Candida species can have varying sensitivities to antifungal medications. More precise identification of the causative agent provides additional information for the doctor in selecting the most appropriate treatment strategy, especially in cases of recurrent or harder-to-treat infections.

Infections caused by Candida can be associated with itching, burning, mucous membrane irritation, discomfort during intercourse or urination. Recurring symptoms can significantly affect well-being and quality of life.
