Sputum Culture

Sputum tests are performed for lung and bronchial diseases. It is recommended to conduct the test if the patient has been coughing for more than 2-3 weeks and has at least one of these symptoms: fever, night sweats, coughing up blood.

Sputum culture is one of the bacteriological examination methods, where an attempt is made to grow pure bacterial cultures from the examined material (sputum).

How to collect sputum:

1. In the morning, after waking up, thoroughly clean your teeth and rinse your mouth with water.
2. Take a deep breath and cough up sputum into a special sterile container with a screw cap.
