Vitamin C

During virus outbreaks, most people try to strengthen their bodies to avoid getting sick or prevent complications like bronchitis, sinusitis, or pneumonia.

There are many ways to boost immunity, including eating large amounts of garlic, but first, the body needs to be supplied with substances that are directly involved in cell function and activate antiviral immunity. These substances include certain vitamins (C, A, D), trace elements (zinc, selenium), and amino acids (L-lysine).

The most popular and proven remedy is vitamin C, as it is a crucial substance that works at all stages and ensures protection against viruses.

What vitamin C does:

  • stimulates the synthesis and activity of immune cells - neutrophils;
  • protects the cells of the nose, throat, and bronchial mucosa from viral toxins that can destroy them;
  • by activating enzymes and prostaglandins, reduces inflammation;
  • restores the activity of oxidized vitamins and minerals, which we need to fight viruses and recover quickly;
  • is responsible for the synthesis of carnitine, which results in a milder form of illness;
  • controls the proper synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin (happiness hormone), which helps to remain alert and positive during illness and stress;
  • regulates the use of the amino acid L-lysine, which also plays an important role in fighting viruses.

Just one important note: for vitamin C to perform its protective functions and provide all the mentioned benefits, the body must receive enough of it!

If we only get 100-500 mg of vitamin C, there will be no effect. Also, for conditions like arthritis, bronchitis, sinusitis, to achieve the desired effect, one needs to receive at least 1000-4000 mg of vitamin C per day.
