VARIVAX - Vaccination against chickenpox for those older than 12 months and adults. Two doses of VARIVAX are allowed, and the administration dates are determined by the responsible doctor.

VARIVAX can also vaccinate susceptible individuals who have been in contact with chickenpox patients. Vaccination within three days of contact may prevent the clinically visible infectious disease or ease its course. Additionally, there is limited data indicating that vaccination within 5 days of contact may ease the course of the disease. This vaccine is LIVE, as the viruses in the vaccine are alive but too weak to cause chickenpox in a healthy person.

This vaccine only protects against the Varicella zoster virus that causes chickenpox.

This vaccine should NOT be used if you are allergic to any of its components or the antibiotic neomycin, or if you currently have an acute illness or an exacerbation of a chronic illness.
