Tick Testing for Lyme Disease and Tick-borne Encephalitis Virus (PCR Method)

What is it?
This is a combined molecular test that allows simultaneous testing of a tick for two of the most commonly transmitted diseases – Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi) and tick-borne encephalitis.

How is it performed?
The removed tick needs to be delivered to the laboratory. The test is performed using the PCR method – identifying the genetic material of bacteria and the virus.

When is it recommended?

• After any tick bite situation;
• If a person is unsure whether they are vaccinated against encephalitis;
• To immediately receive a comprehensive answer about two dangerous diseases.

Time is saved and waiting stress is reduced – two very important tests are performed from one tick. Useful for prevention and planning further monitoring or treatment.
