Renin Determination at Rest

Renin is an enzyme produced in the kidneys that regulates arterial blood pressure. By promoting vasoconstriction, renin increases both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. This test is important if there is a detected decrease in potassium levels and an increase in blood pressure or renovascular hypertension.

Before sample collection, the patient should remain at rest (without movement) for at least 30 minutes.
