Microscopic Hair Examination for Fungal Detection (Hair)

What is it? 

It is a microscopic examination that analyzes the hair of the head or body to detect fungal infection. The test allows assessing whether the hair is damaged by fungus and helps identify the specific form of dermatophytosis. 

When is it recommended? 

• In cases of hair loss, especially in children; 

• When flaky, red, itchy spots are observed on the scalp; 

• Suspected fungal infection of the scalp (tinea capitis).
