Microscopic examination for demodicosis (demodex mites): facial skin scrapings

What is it? 

A microscopic examination performed by taking a skin sample (scrapings) from the face. It assesses whether the skin is abundant with Demodex mites, which can cause rosacea, acne, itching. 

When is it recommended? 

• If you are bothered by facial redness, widespread rash, or skin inflammation; 
• When there is a suspicion of rosacea; 
• When standard acne or dermatitis treatment is ineffective. 

Benefit: 

Helps to determine whether the skin condition is caused by mites or other factors (bacteria, seborrhea, allergy). Allows for precise treatment selection. 

How is it performed? 

The skin surface is gently scraped, and the scrapings are examined under a microscope.
